The Fear of Climbing
This is a great short (2:46) video of a guy climbing a beautiful dihedral crack called The Fear of Climbing in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge (I think that’s where the route is). I don’t know what it’s rated.
This’ll get your heart pumping.
Hell of a fall!

Professor of one of my courses this semester referred this site to the class to work on proper form for our olympic lifts. I suggest EVERYONE check this out if you do any lifting because they break down each movement and stage and explain what to do. So legit.

I saw this today and pretty much loved it instantly. Bolding mine for the ones that I love super extra tons.

Tonight's workout.
Balancing cardio and weight training has proved difficult. Every time I go back to heavy weights it is like starting over. I feel like if I squat, bench and deadlift as heavy as I should, then I’ll be in no condition to conquer a 9 or 15 mile run a few days later. The truth is, I haven’t tried.
Tonight, I hit the weights but was cautious not to go back to where I left off...

Food
One of my friends is taking classes in Nutritional Science (she has a degree in Excercise Science already) and I will be one of her lab rats for an assignment. I don’t know all the details yet but I best get in the habit of recording what I eat. I probably won’t post it all here and will use an app instead, but for now. This does not include any espresso or coffee I may have had.

Pool membership finally
Yay! I think, after years, I am getting a membership to the best place on earth. You have to know someone and be sponsored to get in. That’s just extra motivation to push harder, eat better, and workout on the days I’d rather not. This summer we will finally have access to the 8th wonder of the world: this wonderful quarry-turned-swimclub. Also, the have a very nice gym for their...

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. …

Lovin the Hills
Good news, everyone! I beat last year’s time! 3:13 versus last year’s 3:40 (I misremembered this as over 4 hours) to cover 15 frozen, grueling, hilly, beautiful miles.
It was probably because I knew my lovely wife was waiting patiently for me to finish so she could leave the cabin full of trailies. See below

Lovin the Hills
15 cold, hilly miles tomorrow: the Louisville Lovin the Hills Trail race. It is soooo hard, last year it took me 4 hours and everything I had. I walked probably all the second half, and every muscle ached. Quads, calves, glutes, muscles I don’t know the names of. The guy behind me was throwing up, said it was the 4th time that day he’d been sick. He may have had a stomach bug,...

I disagree that “spinning is useless” for a few simple reasons.
1) Spinning has definitely helped me in my running. I did a very hilly 8 mile run which would have killed me halfway through in past years. This year, though I have ran less, the spinning has certainly increased my cardio ability. Other runners complained of burning quads, but I felt great knowing that it was...
